Dry Skin
What is dry skin?
Dry skin is very common, particularly on the bottom of the foot. A skin that is dry lacks enough moisture and is no longer as supple. The skin is prone to cracks and may peel, making it more open to infection, fungal, viral and bacterial.
What causes dry skin?
The outer layer of the epidermis (the top layer of the skin) becomes dehydrated. Your skin therefore becomes less elastic and more likely to crack or split. This may due to Athletes foot and Aging.
What should I do if I have dry skin?
It is important that the skin on your feet is hydrated in order to improve and maintain good foot health. If your feet are dry, the podiatrists at Parkview will be able to remove the dry skin and give advice on how to better rehydrate your feet.
